DABI has 21 members at present and our registration has been accepted by QDBF.
Some of the group who had never paddled before visited the "come and try" day held at Lake Samsonvale a week ago hosted by Redcliffe Red Dragons. They enjoyed the day and we can't wait to get our boat to get "Pink" on the water here.
However we won't have to wait too long as we are hosting a "fun"day on Sept.28 at Banksia Beach when Currumbin "Beyond Survival", Sunshine Coast "Tittytittybangbang", Redcliffe "Pink Snapdragons" and Brisbane "Pinks" will join our new " Dragons Abreast Bribie Island"
We won't have a "Bribie Boat" but some of the clubs are bringing their boats up to paddle.
We are gaining recognition as it becomes know of our ambitions and we are starting to receive donations plus money we raise from markets and raffles etc.
Our president and I have joined Lexie Warren and presented our stories at a Zonta Caboolture dinner and we have been given an indication that they would like to help us.
We also have to speak at a Lions club dinner this week .
Our original President Cathie Gouldsbrough has had to step down after such a short time, as she and her family are going to Dubai to live,as husband, Nigel will work there.
So vice-president Lorraine Martin has taken over that role.
We will taking part in a "Field of Women" here on Oct. 25 which is being organized by Kay Ellis for BCNA at Woorim Beach.
Regards, Dawn Worley sec/co-ordinator DABI
